Welcome to the Bunnyhug Studios Dev Blog
Welcome! If you're reading this, you've found the dev blog for Bunnyhug Studios — a tiny indie game studio operating out of the Canadian Prairies. We build AI-native mobile games, and we figured it was time to start writing about the journey.
We're based in Saskatchewan. Not exactly the first place you picture when someone says "game studio," but honestly? That's part of the fun. We're far from the noise, building weird little games in the middle of wheat fields, and somehow it works.
What We Build
We make mobile games where AI isn't a gimmick — it's the mechanic. We've got three live games on iOS and Android right now:
🎧 Headline Harmonies — Every day, real-world news headlines get turned into original songs. You fill in the missing words while Harvey the Hyena (our DJ/host) keeps things moving. It's part music game, part news quiz, and entirely unlike anything else on the App Store.
✏️ Doodle Doo — You get 10 seconds to draw a word. Then an AI rooster named Doodle replays your drawing frame-by-frame and — how do I put this — provides feedback. The Daily Gallery lets players vote on the best (and funniest) drawings of the day. It's chaotic, and we love it.
📜 Infinite Scribe — This one's the deepest. It's a full AI-powered RPG engine: character stats, hidden dice rolls, a persistent world where NPCs remember what you did. You can switch visual styles mid-game (cyberpunk, watercolor, noir — your call). Think "D&D, but your phone is the Dungeon Master."
All three share a common thread: daily engagement loops built around AI systems that actually do something interesting. We're not bolting chatbots onto match-three games. We're building AI-native experiences from the ground up.
Why a Dev Blog?
A few reasons:
We want to show our work. Mobile games are these opaque little rectangles on your home screen. You tap them, something happens, you close them. There's a whole world of design decisions, failed experiments, and late-night breakthroughs behind each one. We want to crack that open a bit.
The AI-in-games conversation is happening everywhere, and most of it is theoretical. We're in the trenches actually shipping AI-native mobile games to real players. We've got opinions, data, and scars to prove it. This blog is where we'll share what's actually working and what's definitely not.
Saskatchewan deserves a game studio with a blog. That might sound like a joke, but we're serious. There's creative talent everywhere, and you don't need to be in a coastal tech hub to build something people love. If you're an aspiring dev reading this from somewhere that isn't SF, Toronto, or Vancouver — hi. We see you. Keep building.
What to Expect
We'll post a few times a month — devlogs, design deep-dives, post-mortems, and the occasional behind-the-scenes look at what it's like to run an indie studio from the heart of the Prairies. No corporate fluff. No press-release-ese. Just honest writing from people who make games because we can't imagine doing anything else.
If that sounds like your kind of thing, stick around. And if you want to try the games, they're all live on the App Store and Google Play.
